Field-book questions

What is Thicket43?

Thicket43 is a hand-kept web directory — a printer's index of working websites filed across 22 named sections. We hold 832 entries at present, submitted by site owners without charge and reviewed before they go live.

Is it free to submit my site?

Yes. Submission is free, filing is free and staying in the index costs nothing. There is no paid placement, no premium tier and no fee at any point in the process.

How do you decide which sites are filed?

We look for three things: a working homepage, an honest description and lawful operation in the site's own jurisdiction. We do not rank by traffic or commercial scale — if the site works and the description is plain and honest, it earns its place in the galley.

How long does filing take?

Usually less than a minute. Paste your URL, pick a section and submit. The form auto-fetches a description if you leave it blank, and your site is filed immediately. No waiting period, no approval queue.

Can I change or remove a listing?

Yes. Send a note via the submission form with your URL and what you need changed — an updated description, a different section or a full removal. We handle corrections by hand and aim to turn them around within a day or two.

How are sites organised in the directory?

Sites are filed into 22 named sections, from motor trade and dental practices to commodity exchanges, printing houses and a general sundries shelf for everything else. Each section has its own page listing all filed entries in sequence.

Do you review submissions before they go live?

Every submission is read by a person before it is filed. We check the URL resolves, read the description and confirm the site is not spam or malware. Sites that pass go live immediately; those that fail are not filed and the submitter is not notified.

About Thicket43

Thicket43 is a web directory assembled in the spirit of the printer's compositing room: each site submitted, read and filed by hand into one of 22 named sections before it goes to press. The directory holds 832 entries at last count, from individual services and small trades to established platforms — a galley set in plain type, without ranking or weighting. Anyone may submit a site without charge; the form is straightforward, the review is prompt and the listing goes live immediately. Sections run from building trades and dental practices to commodity exchanges, printing houses and a broad sundries shelf where sites that resist easy classification find their slot. The editorial line is plain: a working URL, an honest description and no spam or malware. Thicket43 is a working directory for browsers who prefer to navigate the web by section rather than by search-engine result.
